Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market to open May 1

April 24, 2018

The Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market, rated one of the top markets in Delaware, will open for the season from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 1. Shoppers should look for the white tents in Grove Park at the lighthouse circle, behind the chamber of commerce visitor center. Parking is available on Columbia and Henlopen avenues.

Pat Coluzzi, market master, announced that there are approximately 45 vendors for the season, many of whom have been with the market since its inception 12 years ago. Prepared food is available for lunch, which can be eaten at the picnic tables in the park or taken home. Local musicians provide entertainment during shopping hours. The Green Tent is back with a full schedule of interesting programs about environmental and conservation issues important to the community. For parents with children, the Rehoboth Public Library holds a children’s story time at the market during the summer months.

Many vendors are accepting WIC coupons. For information about special market events throughout the season, and to purchase items such as dish towels, hats and the ever-popular market bags, visit the information tent. Merchandise sales help with the cost of maintaining the market tents.

The market’s website has a weekly newsletter, delicious recipes for easy and healthful preparation, and information about the growing seasons of fruits and vegetables, which makes it easy to plan visits around the availability of popular items such as peaches, corn and tomatoes. The Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market is a nonprofit market, true to its motto of “real food, real farmers and real community.”

Coluzzi and the vendors are eager to welcome Rehoboth Beach and surrounding communities for its 12th season of providing fresh, healthy, delicious home-grown food products.
