Rehoboth Beach goes to the dogs

Brandywine Valley SPCA raises funds, offers adoptions during Bark on the Boards

The annual Brandywine Valley SPCA Bark on the Boards Block Party attracted a record crowd Oct. 16 in the area of the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand.

The event featured jumping dogs in the Delmarva DockDogs pool, entertainment, vendors, yoga, a walk, a drag show, musical performances, children’s activities. petting zoo, comedy show and pet costume contest, and of course the stars of the show – dozens of dogs offered for adoption by the SPCA and Grass Roots Rescue.

The SPCA, in partnership with Fur Baby Pet Resort in Milford, set a goal to raise $100,000 through the event. To donate, go to secure.qgiv.com/event/202bot/donate, and for more information on the SPCA, go to bvspca.org.

Brandywine Valley SPCA provides adoption services for cats and dogs, low-cost veterinarian care, animal protective services, lost and found services, and pet food assistance.

It operates three facilities in Georgetown – a shelter and animal health center at 22918 DuPont Blvd. south of Georgetown, and an animal rescue center and the Eastern Shore Pet Resort, 19022 Shingle Point Road east of Georgetown. The SPCA also has centers in Dover, New Castle, West Chester, Pa., and Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
