After nearly half a dozen tries, Rehoboth in Bloom was able to host its inaugural Oldies Dance April 29 at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, with roughly 300 people attending.

Cindy Lovett, Rehoboth in Bloom volunteer and event organizer, said the dance was fantastic. The emcee had to shut down the music because people weren’t leaving, she said.

“Everyone seemed to have a blast,” said Lovett in an email the day after the dance.

Lovett estimated more than $7,500 was raised for the gardening club. There wasn’t a financial goal this year, just for everyone to have a good time, she said.

The money raised will go toward flowers and other garden plantings, equipment, a dune project and more.
