Rehoboth Beach when its streets and beaches were both sand

This picture postcard from before 1907 shows the first block of Rehoboth’s Baltimore Avenue when the street and sidewalks were packed sand.
In this resort community that started as a Methodist camp meeting summer retreat, most of the churches were built in the ocean block of its main streets. Epworth Methodist Church on Baltimore Avenue was no exception.
