Rehoboth bridge tournament a huge success

May 17, 2022

Last week, a large event in the ACBL bridge world was held in Rehoboth Beach’s Convention Center, and Rehoboth Beach excelled! A Regional Duplicate Bridge Tournament was held Monday through Friday last week. Regional tournaments bring in bridge players from surrounding states, and are a big deal in the bridge world. Being awarded the opportunity to hold a regional was itself a compliment to Rehoboth and its people and supporting hospitality industry, but Rehoboth and its capabilities and generous nature absolutely astounded all!

The Convention Center itself was a wonderful venue, but the janitorial staff went beyond themselves in helping the volunteers running the tournament with the heavy lifting.

The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce gave advice and goodie bags.

The Breakers and The Sands gave players excellent rooms, excellent rates, breakfast included, all within walking distance of the Convention Center, restaurants and shops.

Big Fish Market provided the daily box lunches for the 220-plus players daily. The market allowed us to call daily with new numbers for lunches, as there is no preregistration, but the market somehow never failed! The lunches themselves received raving reviews for quality, quantity and taste. Many players said it was the best food ever!

The Big Fish Group itself must be complimented, as it gave us those fabulous lunches at a fabulous price and a discount coupon for dinners at their restaurants.

All of Rehoboth Beach was complimented over and over by the players. Players loved the small town atmosphere that provided big tournament results!
