After 15 years in business, The Point outside Rehoboth Beach has closed.
Located at the fork in the road of Route 1 and Rehoboth Avenue Extended, the coffee house and bake shop opened in 2010. It announced on its Facebook page March 18 that its last day of business would be March 19.
“Like our coffee and baked goods, it is both bitter and sweet, but it’s time for us to say goodbye,” said the message, which has also been printed off and taped to the doors of the building.
The message said if customers have an outstanding gift card balance, it will be honored. For a short period of time, people can come to the coffee shop 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, and the full balance of the gift card will be refunded to a credit card. After that, a cash refund can be arranged by calling 302-227-0441, Ext. 232, or it can be exchanged for a gift card to Victoria’s Restaurant.
The coffee shop property is owned by the Zerby family, who also owns the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel on the Boardwalk end of Olive Avenue in Rehoboth Beach. Victoria’s is located in the hotel.
Prior to The Point, the space was called Oby Lee’s Coffee Roastery.
