Rehoboth farmers market to open with new hours May 2

April 9, 2017

The Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market will open with new hours Tuesday, May 2. The market will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesdays, in May, September and October. Hours will be extended from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. in the busier months of June, July and August. Look for the white tents in Grove Park, at the lighthouse circle, behind the chamber of commerce visitor center. Parking is available on Columbia Avenue and Henlopen Avenue. The Rehoboth Beach market is rated as one of the top farmers markets in Delaware.

Pat Coluzzi, market master, announced there will be 45 vendors for the season. Many are returning for their 11th year, and some of this year’s vendors will be new. Prepared food will be available for lunch, which can be eaten at the picnic tables in the park or taken home. One new vendor, Chesapeake and Maine Restaurant, will offer lobster and crab rolls. On opening day, Bruce Anthony will entertain shoppers with his fabulous style of blues and jazz. The Green Tent will be back with a full schedule of interesting programs about environmental and conservation issues important to the community. Sussex Gardeners will present information opening day about their many programs.

For parents with children, the Rehoboth Public Library will hold a story time at the market during the summer months.

An early season farm-to-table dinner will be held Tuesday, May 23, at Lavender Fields Farm in Milton. Lion Gardner, chef at Blue Moon, will prepare the meal. Tickets may be purchased at the information tent.

SNAP benefits are available at the market. To buy tokens for SNAP purchases, visit the information tent. The information tent will also sell items such as dish towels and T-shirts, and the proceeds will help with the cost of maintaining market tents.
