Rehoboth police sergeant completes leadership development program
Sgt. Brian Kaczmarczyk, a 20-year veteran of the Rehoboth Beach Police Department, successfully completed a leadership training program through the Delaware State Police.
Approximately two dozen police officers from across the state participated in the most recent session of the Delaware State Police Leadership Development Program, with classes taking place in Dover.
Kaczmarczyk described the three-week program as extensive and demanding with a focus on how various leadership styles impact individual behaviors, group dynamics and the organization. “It was like taking a master’s-level college course in three weeks,” he said. “It will help me bring some new things to the table and hopefully manage my shift in a way that builds an even more cohesive unit.”
The program included lectures and readings, case studies, situational analysis and application of knowledge acquired to real-world situations.
“It’s no secret that policing has become an increasingly complex and difficult profession,” said Rehoboth Police Chief Keith Banks. “We’re committed to encouraging our officers to take advantage of professional development opportunities to ensure that the Rehoboth Beach Police Department continues to employ well-trained, motivated and committed officers. I commend Sgt. Kaczmarczyk for his commitment to enhancing his leadership skills.”
