A new restaurant will be coming to downtown Lewes later this year. Megan Kee, who owns and operates three other restaurants in Rehoboth Beach, plans to open a new eatery in the longtime location of The Buttery at the corner of Savannah Road and Second Street. The building, known as the Trader Mansion, was most recently occupied by 2nd Street Tavern.

Kee confirmed her plans with the Cape Gazette April 12. She is out of town on business and will share more details for an article in the Friday, April 23 edition.

Kee opened La Fable on Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach in 2016 and then Houston White Co. on Rehoboth Avenue in 2018. Her latest restaurant, an Italian eatery named Dalmata, opened in late 2020.

Big Fish Restaurant Group purchased the Trader Mansion earlier this year. President and Managing Partner Eric Sugrue said the company has entered into a lease agreement with Kee and is confident she will open a great restaurant in the space. Big Fish also agreed to purchase Striper Bites earlier this year, and the group has been working to gradually take over operations.
