Riverwalk Freedom Festival returns to Milford Sept. 18
The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford will host Milford’s largest annual outdoor event, the 20th annual Riverwalk Freedom Festival, beginning at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 18.
Attendees can stroll through downtown Milford along the Mispillion Riverwalk and Bicentennial Park, visit more than 100 vendors and sponsors, and choose from a wide assortment of activities. Merchandise vendors will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Southern Delaware Street Rods will host a car show, and the kids corner will offer affordable games, moon bounces and more.
The Petriotic Pet Parade will take place across from the Milford Public Library, where guests can learn all kinds of information about their pets. Those dressed in patriotic costume can vie for a chance to win a prize after they participate in the pet parade.
The popular Duck Dash will take place down the Mispillion River, and three lucky people who invest $5 for a duck will win monetary prizes up to $500. Ducks are on sale now; call the chamber at 302-422-3344 to find out how to purchase.
Also on the river, paddle boat rides will be available, and the Patriotic Boat Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Returning for the fourth year, the Red, White and Brew Garden will be open from noon to 10 p.m. This is a great place to enjoy favorite adult beverages, relax in one of the Adirondack chairs or at a picnic table, or enjoy playing cornhole with friends in Bicentennial Park along the river.
Four live bands will perform in Bicentennial Park – Lincoln City, Kathie Martin & the Hot Rods, Mike Hines and the Look, and Plead the 5th. Live entertainment begins at 11:30 a.m. and runs until the fireworks are over. Food vendors will be available from 9 a.m. until after the fireworks.
The Freedom Awards are new this year and will take place at 7 p.m. on the main stage in Bicentennial Park.
To top off the event, and the 20th anniversary celebration, Milford’s only annual fireworks display will begin around dusk.
Attendees are reminded to bring a chair or blanket to enjoy the live music and fireworks.
