Robert H. Wheatley, construction retiree
Robert H. Wheatley, 78, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, at home. He was born Aug. 10, 1942.
He was the son of the late William F. Wheatley Sr. and Phyllis M. Biddison; brother of the late Lora Lee Wheatley; nephew of the late Ode Ad Ruth Walker of Middletown.
After graduating from Middletown High School, he served in the U.S. Marines.
He worked in the maintenance field and construction in New Castle County. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and softball player in New Caste County, and also umpired.
He is survived by his sons, Timothy Lee Wheatley and family of New Mexico, and Robert H. Wheatley and family of Goose Neck, S.C.; his brothers William F. Wheatley Jr. of Lewes and James (Jr.) Biddison and family of Newark; and many friends and family.
The family would like to thank his caregiver Vernon Russell, and doctors and nursing staff who cared for him in his later years.
Services and burial were private. Arrangements were handled by Daniel Hutchinson Funeral Home in Middletown.
