A roll of the dice benefits pet rescue
The night before Halloween was a night to remember for people who came to Baywood Greens to support Humane Animal Partners.
The animal rescue organization hosted its fourth annual Casino Night fundraiser.
HAP provides a wide range of services at its facilities in Rehoboth Beach and New Castle County, from pet adoptions to spay and neuter surgery and vaccine clinics.
The event was an opportunity for donors to show their support and have fun playing table games.
Patrick Carroll, HAP CEO, said the organization needs individual donors now more than ever.
“We are seeing more need, whether it’s people who have to give up their pet because of the economy or they need vet care, or even just that they’re not adopting because they don’t want to add that extra expense,” Carroll said.
Carroll said one of their current initiatives is to increase HAP’s pet foster program in its Rehoboth Beach adoption center.
Beside the faux gambling, there were silent and live auctions.
Dana MacElrevey was one of the big winners, scoring the top bid for an Argentina vacation in the live auction.
Jackie Blue made the high bid of $2,600 for Delaware license plate 63260.
Crooner Jimmy Brewster provided the entertainment, singing Sinatra and many more favorites.
