Rosemary Diane Thomas, loved the beach

May 16, 2023

Rosemary Diane Thomas, 87, of Milton, peacefully passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born Aug. 18, 1935, to the late Dominick and Mary Celia in Washington, D.C. Rosemary graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 1953 and worked in the media and entertainment industry. She soon met her husband-to-be and partner in life, Jack Thomas, and said yes to his marriage proposal at the Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach. They were married in 1966 and spent 57 years together.

Rosemary is survived by her husband, Jack; brother, Donnie Celia of Wilton Manors, Fla.; son, John Thomas of Pawley’s Island, S.C.; and son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Tammy Thomas of Rehoboth Beach. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Caroline Thomas of Charleston, S.C., and Langley Thomas of Los Angeles, Calif.  Rosemary was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Jackie Thomas, in 1982.

A self-proclaimed sun goddess, Rosemary loved spending time at the beach. For 49 summers, her favorite days were spent with her family on the beach off West Street in Dewey. She cherished time spent with her family and friends, and loved laughing at funny stories, movies and people. She will be dearly missed by many and thought about often.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
