A close five-point game in the first half turned into a Royals rout, as Delmarva Christian outscored the Worcester Prep Mallards 35-17 in the second half to garner a 60-38 home victory. The Royals move to 10-4, while the Mallards are 2-8.
Junior guard Ed Higgins led the Royals with 16 points. Senior center Carter Breasure had 12. Junior Xavier Efford added 10 points, while Mason Bohinski hit for nine, all coming from behind the three-point line.
“The first time we played them, we went into it thinking it was going to be an easy win,” said Efford of the 63-54 overtime win Jan. 12. “We prepared hard for this game, and tonight we came out strong.”
“Today, our focus was there,” said Royals coach Marc Hannah. “We locked in on defense and we played together. It was a physical game, but our guys are good at keeping their head. We always talk about we’re Christians, then basketball players.”
Baylor Hoen led the Worcester squad with 12 points and six rebounds. Griffin Jones and Harrison Humes each scored eight and grabbed four rebounds, with Jones dishing off five assists. Jeffrey Hamer grabbed seven rebounds while scoring three points.
