Runner on final leg of 3,000-mile journey

Emery’s Thunder Run is Peter Halper’s personal quest to battle childhood cancer
November 13, 2020

Peter Halper is in the Cape Region on the last segment of his run across the United States, which started July 6 in Dana Point, Calif. Averaging running a marathon a day six days week for the past four months, Halper, a Fond du Lac, Mich., carpenter, plans to complete his 3,076-mile trek on the afternoon of Nov. 13 when he dips his toes in the Atlantic Ocean in Cape Henlopen State Park.

Every step of Emery’s Thunder Run has been personal to him. He is running to raise money to fund research for neuroblastoma and to support families with children battling the cancer.

The run was coordinated by Emery's Memory Foundation, named after his grandniece Emery, who died in 2017 at the age of 3 from neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of childhood cancer affecting 800 new children every year in the United States.
