Saliba family recognized for donation to Lewes History Museum

September 2, 2018

The Lewes Historical Society recently recognized Dr. Anis K. Saliba, Sue Saliba and members of the Saliba family for their generous donation to the Lewes History Museum.

“It is only through the generosity of wonderful Lewes residents like Dr. Saliba and his wife Sue that this museum was made possible,” said Elizabeth Owen, LHS Board of Trustees chair.

Dr. Anis K. Saliba and his wife Sue came to the U.S. in 1960 soon after his graduation from medical school. They relocated to Lewes in 1967, at the encouragement of a physician friend, to fill a much-needed role as a board-certified general surgeon specializing in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, and surgical critical care.

During more than 50 years here, the Salibas raised two children, Khalil (Karl), an attorney, and Nada Saliba Hart, a physician-anesthesiologist. By 2017, they had six grandchildren: Grace, Alyse and Audrey Saliba; and Christopher, Bradley and Natalie Hart.

Karl Saliba, his wife Marcy, and their children are also now full-time residents of Lewes. Karl serves on the board of the Greater Lewes Foundation.

Anis and Sue Saliba are Lebanese. Sue was born in French West Africa. They are world travelers who are fluent in Arabic, French and English. They enjoy being part of a small community, and have been generous supporters of Lewes charities and causes.
