Johnny Salta of California took first place in the Vic East Skimming Championship held June 5-6 at the South Side of the Indian River Inlet. Jack Lee of Rehoboth took second in the pro division, while Will Ashmore placed third. Local veteran Jason Wilson took fourth, and local Ethan Redefer garnered fifth.

“The conditions were perfect and the weather was fantastic,” said event director and Skimboard University owner Justin Redefer. “This year we had over 10 amateur females, which was great. Also, all of our heats for amateurs 12 years old and under were full. It was very exciting. I’ve never seen that many amateur women or the younger divisions full. Last summer at Skimboard University in Dewey Beach, we had a lot of new riders attending class, and they were able to compete this weekend. Great to see new people. It was a overall great weekend that was extremely positive and we had lots of smiling faces. Things ran smoothly for the event.”
