Salvation Army holds Souper Bowl at Nicola

The Salvation Army Seaford Corps held its annual Souper Bowl Feb. 9 at Nicola Pizza on Rehoboth Avenue. The event was a fundraiser to restock the Salvation Army’s food pantry in Seaford. The event also promoted the Salvation Army’s Creative heARTs program.
The Salvation Army Creative heARTs program works with artists with cognitive/intellectual disabilities. The program’s goal is to give artists of the program the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques and to hone their creativity. The program also helps to find opportunities for the artists to show others their artwork.
Artists with disabilities are not unlike other artists who need to create and feel validated for their work. The Creative heARTs program helps artists feel validated and helps build self-esteem and pride in art.
