Santa Cause 5K offers registration discounts through Nov. 16

November 7, 2018

The Santa Cause 5K & Fun Run will return to Dewey Beach for a third year Sunday, Dec. 2, with visions of sugar-plummed participants dancing in the streets.

This one-of-a-kind fundraiser to benefit Children & Families First is open to all ages and abilities. It offers a choice between the competitive, timed 5K race or the leisurely 1-mile fun run/walk where strollers and wagons are welcome.

Aligned with the mission of the 501c3 nonprofit it supports, the Santa Cause 5K & Fun Run is a celebration of children, families and communities featuring holiday stations with giveaways, live carolers and participants in their most creative holiday attire. Jim Klabe, vice president of marketing for sponsor M&T Bank, said, “It’s an incredibly fun way to showcase our community pride and strength. I look forward to bringing my whole family again this year, and I encourage everyone to join us.”

Through Friday, Nov. 16, early registration discounts are available. Adult registration includes an event shirt, swag bag with giveaways, and a Dogfish Head SeaQuench Ale at the finish line for those 21 and older. Children ages 5-12 receive a Santa hat and swag bag with giveaways.

Every entry level includes the post-event festival held at the Starboard. Some highlights of the holiday magic include more than 15 games, activities and crafts; pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus; a live game show and magic performance; DJ entertainment; and buffet of finger foods.

“It is always such a spectacular sight to see our community gather with such joy that resonates with powerful impact in the lives of the children we serve year-round,” said Laura Rimmer, development officer for Children & Families First.
