Sara Leppo, Cape District retiree

Sara “Sally” Leppo, 77, of Milton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Sunday, May 29, 2022. 

Sally was born Sept. 1, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Michael and Sarah Elizabeth (Greco) Gioquinto.

Sally was a member of The Water’s Edge in Milton and the Order of the Pocahontas of Delaware. She worked for 26 years in child nutrition with the Cape Henlopen School District. When her children were growing up, she was involved in Girl Scouts and Milton Little League. She was a proud Coast Guard wife and mother. She had great stories that kept many in stitches, and she had a flair for making up phrases and words in her very own language. Baha Lauf Ega!!

In addition to her parents, Sara is preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Ray; her brother, Michael “Butch” Gioquinto; and her sister, Marie “Sissy” Welty.

She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Harry F. Leppo; her children, Marie Diane Leppo, Michelle Frances Clifton and Leroy “Boots” Francis Leppo; her sister, Angelina McGarry. Sally “Beau” has five grandchildren, Joshua Leppo, Payten Estes (Justin), Shayne Clifton (Brianna), Jacob Clifton (Brittany) and Hunter Clifton; as well as five great-grandchildren with two more on the way.  

Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, at Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St. Milton. A time of visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date.
