SDTR hosts winning Kentucky Derby watch party

Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding center in Harbeson hosted a Kentucky Derby Watch Party May 3, bringing together riders, families and volunteers for a day of fun and camaraderie.

This year’s festivities included a watch party for the Kentucky Derby, an auction-parade of horses, best hat and crazy pants contests, and an opportunity to take a chance on win, place or show. Attendees also enjoyed served hors d’oeuvres and an open bar with an assortment of drinks including the traditional mint julep.

Each year since 1988, the nonprofit SDTR has relied on sponsorships, donations and fundraising to continue its mission of enriching the lives of local children and adults with special needs one stride at a time.
