Sea Gals continue support for Community Resource Center

December 8, 2023

The community of Angola by the Bay’s Sea Gals social group awarded the proceeds of its weekly mini farmers markets to the Community Resource Center Nov. 9 in Rehoboth Beach.

Five years ago, the Sea Gals began coordinating a mini farmers market to serve the Angola by the Bay community, with market proceeds earmarked for food-based charities. Since January 2023, 12 carloads of food and $2,205 have been delivered to the Community Resource Center. Mini market vendors for 2023 were Adkins Produce, Fresh Catch, Paul Cullen’s Italian Market, Coffee Rendezbrew and NaNa’s Candy Kloudz. Organizers thank them for their donations and for coming every week during the summer. They also thank the many Angola by the Bay residents who supported the vendors each week, rain or shine. This year’s vendor fees collected and donated to the Community Resource Center totaled $510.

“The CRC is extremely grateful for this donation,” said Nancy Alexander, Community Resource Center executive director. “We can now help more neighbors in need fight hunger, find jobs, and avoid evictions and utility cut-offs thanks to your generosity.“

The Sea Gals was formed in 1975 as a group of women interested in fellowship, community awareness and philanthropy. Funds collected from projects throughout the year go to support scholarships, donations to local charities, a gift to the Angola by the Bay community, help for local families in need during the holidays, and other community projects that arise.
