Seahawks field hockey falls to Polytech 2-1

September 12, 2022

The Sussex Academy field hockey squad opened its 2022 season with a tight 2-1 loss to Polytech Sept. 8 at home.

Morgan Leeper scored for the Seahawks off a pass from Callie Short at the 6:18 mark.

Addison Krout scored for the Panthers from Kylee LaVere. LaVere hit the board in the second half off a helper from teammate Emilyn Bivens.

The Panther held a 3-2 advantage in penalty corners.

“The girls played hard in the midfield utilizing our strong passing game,” said Seahawks head coach Leah Hunsinger. “We just couldn’t finish in the circle when it really counted.”
