Seahawks send Senators home with a 5-0 tennis loss

Sussex Academy boys win home opener against Dover
April 3, 2026

Too much of a good thing is sometimes … a good thing, especially if it leads to back-to-back 5-0 victories to start the year.

Technically, there are slots for first singles and second singles on Sussex Academy’s boys’ tennis roster, but when the second-singles player is the reigning conference champ, it’s more like having two aces in the lineup. The Seahawks’ 5-0 victory over Dover April 2, provided a great example of the team’s potential.

Racket revelers saw first-singles player Jack Feinstein win 6-1, 6-2. In addition to the freshman’s already-impressive footwork, Feinstein has added more power to his serves and swings.

J.P. Eichten wears the first-singles Henlopen Conference crown, but is now competing in second singles, looking to impose his will on all challengers. The junior fired his way to a 6-1, 6-0 win to earn a point for his team.

Max Feinstein's calm demeanor was on full display in third singles. The eighth-grader grabbed consecutive 6-0 set victories for the win. Although he was working hard, he appeared to be at his best when he was going with the flow, making it seem almost effortless.

Senior Kieran Probert and sophomore Leo Benz grabbed duplicate 6-2 sets to earn the point in first doubles, while eighth-grader Arjun Verma and freshman Charlie Bowman won their sets 6-1 to complete the sweep of Dover.

The boys will be off during spring break and jump back into action against Cape at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 14.
