Shady Road medical facility must be denied

September 6, 2022

The Cape Gazette reports: "Southern Delaware Medical Center LLC has filed a conditional-use application for a 32,960-square-foot medical and professional office complex on a two-acre parcel at 17611 Shady Road near Lewes. The two-story building would have 127 parking spaces with access to Shady Road."

Shady Road is a small connector between Plantation Road and Route 1. It is already overburdened with traffic from the Delaware Department of Transportation bus terminal, two housing developments and several businesses, as well as traffic merely trying to travel from one main road to another. This is a very poor location for such a large facility. The traffic snarls it will cause are almost unthinkable. This application must be denied!
