Shields students raise $2,698 for school programs through box top and label drive

March 16, 2012

With the support of students, parents, staff and the community, Shields Elementary School raised more than $2,968 through the General Mills Box Tops for Education Program for the 2011-12 school year.

Two times a year, Shields holds a box tops contest in which the top-contributing class wins a pizza party. In this year's second round of collection, Hannah Petterson's fourth-grade class won the contest by bringing in $222.40 worth of box tops. The class enjoyed a pizza party with pizza donated by Pat's Pizza in Lewes.

Shields PTO extended its thanks to everyone who donated to the Box Tops for Education and Campbell's Labels for Education programs. Shields has three drop-off sites where members of the community can donate to the program: the Lewes Public Library, Lewes Post Office and Lloyd's IGA. Donors are requested to place only place Campbell's labels or box tops in these bins, not money.
