Shirley H. Waller, DuPont retiree
Shirley H. Waller, 84, of Georgetown, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford.
Shirley was born Jan. 17, 1939, in Milford, to the late Marshall and Irene (Anderson) Hitchens.
Shirley was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. In her free time, she loved gardening and bowling. She especially enjoyed trips to the beach. She retired from DuPont after 27 years of work as a scale operator. In her retirement, she considered herself a full-time grandmother to her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Lynn M. Hitchens; and her aunt, whom she was close to, Alene Fleischman.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Norris G. “Glenwood” Waller Sr.; her sons, Michael Waller Sr. and Norris “Bo” Waller Jr.; her seven grandchildren, Travis Waller (Jackie), Dustin Waller (Lynsey), Michael Waller Jr., Jessica Waller Bunting, Blake Waller Sr., Marshall Waller and Christopher Waller; her three great-grandchildren, Summer Bunting, Austin Millett and Sadie Waller; as well as her nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A funeral service was held June 5, at Short Funeral Services, Georgetown. Interment was in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made to American Legion Post 8 Ambulance Service, 406 N. Front St., Georgetown, DE 19947.
