Short play festival to be held March 14 in Milford
The Delaware Theatre Association will hold its annual Short Play Festival from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 14, at The Riverfront Theater. Second Street Players will host Cape Henlopen Theatre Academy from Lewes, Reedy Point Players from Delaware City, and Wilmington Drama League who will bring productions which won at their local theater showcases or were rehearsed specifically for this festival.
Ticket prices are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, and $15 for youth under 18. For more details about the festival, go to www.dtafest.org.
There will also be a silent auction containing some items which have been gathered from a lifetime of world travel and then donated to DTA to help with fundraising. Second Street Players will be offering hospitality before and during the festival breaks.
At the conclusion of the productions, everyone is invited to adjourn to The Georgia House in Milford, to await the results of the final award deliberations. While at Georgia House, they can eat and drink while awaiting results and also bid on some beautiful international home décor pieces donated for an open auction. These items will have reserve amounts that must be met, while the silent auction items at the theater will go to the highest bidder.
The DTAFest winner will move on to the Eastern States Theater Association regional competition, ESTAFest, which is being hosted by the Port Tobacco Players in their theater in La Plata, Md., in April. ESTAFest will showcase and adjudicate the state winners from Delaware, Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania, who will then move on to AACTFest being held in Grand Rapids, Mich., in June.
