December 24, 2023

Customers in specific coastal Delaware restaurants benefitted the community simply by placing an order Dec. 5.

SoDel Concepts restaurants Surf Bagel, Southern Delaware Brewing (Thompson Island Brewing Company and Ocean View Brewing Company) and Highwater Management (The Clubhouse at Baywood) donated 100% of the day’s proceeds to SoDel Cares, the philanthropic arm of the hospitality group.

The SoDel Family Day of Giving promotion raised $205,000 to support organizations that assist children, at-risk youth and adults, and the elderly.

“We want to thank the guests who came to support SoDel Cares and our restaurants,” said Scott Kammerer, CEO of SoDel Concepts, who established SoDel Cares to honor SoDel Concepts founder Matt Haley. “We also want to extend our appreciation to the Matt James Haley Trust, the Levin family and the Carl M. Freeman Foundation for their generous donations. To date, we have awarded more than $1 million to charities in our backyard.”

Beneficiaries have included the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation, Delaware Adolescent Program Inc., Harry K Foundation, Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth and Pathways to Success.
