Southern Delaware Orchestra to play at Freeman Arts Pavilion Aug. 12

August 2, 2025

Southern Delaware Orchestra will perform “A Salute to America's Music” at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Freeman Arts Pavilion outdoor performance venue in Selbyville.

The orchestra is led by Music Director James Allen Anderson, who is also head of orchestral studies at the University of Delaware.

The concert at Freeman Arts Pavilion showcases the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation’s commitment to making the arts accessible to all through performance, education and advocacy.

“We believe in the power of the arts to inspire, connect and enrich lives,” said Patti Grimes, executive director. “Southern Delaware Orchestra embodies that spirit — not only through their vibrant performances, but also through their commitment to education and community engagement. We’re proud to support and showcase Southern Delaware Orchestra to our stage and our cultural community.”

Audiences will enjoy works by many of America’s most beloved composers, from Gershwin to Berlin to Copland and more.

“We are both honored and excited to have this opportunity to perform at Freeman Arts Pavilion. It is a unique opportunity for us as musicians to be on the stage here instead of in the audience,” Anderson said. “We are confident that our audience will have as much fun as the musicians Aug. 12, which always makes for a wonderful concert experience.”
