Beach Time Distilling in Nassau hosted a Roaring '20s throwback event to benefit Grass Roots Rescue Society Feb. 13.
The society was founded in August 2013 by Karli Swope and Brittani Clegg, and is operated by volunteers who foster, transport animals to the vet, and handle all fundraising and administrative activities. It rescues dogs and cats and works to get them adopted. It also works to spay/neuter rescue animals and provide life-saving veterinary care for rescued dogs and cats. When funds allow, they also provide vet care for pets of people with limited income and undertake trap-neuter-return efforts for community cats. Go to www.grrde.org for more information about the rescue group.
