Sponsors support Lewes Fire Department 5K

Ladies auxiliary raises funds to help buy thermal-imaging cameras
January 27, 2021

The annual Lewes Fire Department Auxiliary's Stop, Drop and Run 5K has become a major fundraiser in the auxiliary’s efforts to help support the fire department. Like so many other events this year, the sixth annual run was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, all of the sponsors who had committed to support the run and help purchase two thermal-imaging cameras remained.

Thermal-imaging cameras can help locate victims, pets and fire hot spots quickly, can help firefighters find their way in zero-visibility conditions, reduce rekindles by ensuring that a fire is completely extinguished, and assess a scene for heat-related clues.

Lewes Fire Department officials said they are extremely grateful to all of the businesses, organizations and individuals who have stepped up their support during this trying year.
