Spring Fling fun in Ocean View

May 18, 2023

The Town of Ocean View held its inaugural Spring Fling May 6 in John West Park.

Nothing says springtime like the sound of outdoor music, playgrounds full of kids and hot dogs on the grill. The Spring Fling checked all those boxes and more. Charlie and The Cool Tones played upbeat music throughout the day. There were free craft tables for kids, a bounce slide, and rock wall for the more adventurous. Local vendors sold a variety of goods, which included vibrant plants from the local group Gardeners by the Sea. Boy Scout Troop 281 had food and beverages for sale along with bags of popcorn as part of their own fundraising efforts.

Town Manager Carol Houck said the Spring Fling was a fun event to plan. Rather than compete with Easter events in the area, a team of town employees thoughtfully chose the first Saturday in May. As a comical twist, the Easter Bunny made an appearance under the guise that he just got back from spring break.

The weather was perfect and the Spring Fling went off without a hitch. The town looks forward to more events this summer.
