St. George's Chapel to host Concert of Love Songs Feb. 15
The Episcopal Parish of All Saints' Church and St. George's Chapel will present a concert in celebration of love titled Flowers & Chocolates: A Concert of Love Songs Sunday, Feb. 15, at 6 p.m., at St. George's Chapel in Harbeson.
Parish Director of Music Jackson Borges, baritone and pianist, will be accompanied by mezzo soprano Beverly Morgan. Their program will include romantic duets and lighthearted favorites by George Gershwin, Cole Porter and others, with flowers and chocolates for all sweethearts! Historic colonial St. George's Chapel is located at 20274 Beaver Dam Road (Route 23), Harbeson, six miles from Five Points in Lewes. Morgan is a soloist and recitalist who recently retired to Millsboro after a long and distinguished teaching career at both Moravian College and Muhlenberg College. Morgan has sung principal roles in opera and oratorio for major orchestras and choruses in the U.S., Israel, Greece and the West Indies. She holds a master's degree in vocal performance from Temple University.
Borges is very active in the arts scene of southern Delaware since moving from the Wilmington area to Millsboro in September, when he began serving as the parish director of music and organist for All Saints' Church and St. George's Chapel. Borges has sung at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and has been keyboard soloist at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, Calif., and the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in San Diego, Calif. He holds a master of music degree from the prestigious Westminster Choir College.
Sunday's concert is open to the public and free of charge; a freewill love offering will be collected.
