St. John sets annual German Oktoberfest Oct. 16, 17 in Seaford
St. John the Apostle Church has reached a milestone this year as it celebrates the 25th Annual German Oktoberfest Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17. The event will be at St. John’s church on the corner of Seabury Avenue and School Place in Milford.
The Funsters will kick off the festivities at 5 p.m., Friday and get everyone on their feet. Dancing will make everyone hungry, and the Oktoberfest international food court will be serving up traditional German entrees, along with Italian, Hispanic, Polish, Filipino, Irish, homemade crab cakes, hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, Italian ice and homemade baked desserts. Thanks to new associate pastor Father Maximo Rodriguez Luna, Peruvian cuisine will be added to the list. The day begins at 10 a.m., Saturday when there will be arts and crafts, white elephant sale, helicopter rides, over 100 homemade desserts, Milford Community Band and entertainment throughout the day.
For the kids, there will be games galore including inflatables such as the slide, moon walk and obstacle course. There will also be pony rides and a petting zoo. Joe Kroboth and his orchestra will entertain attendees Saturday afternoon along with the Enzian (German) dancers and the Irish School of Dancing. The Honeycombs will play at 6 p.m., Saturday,
