July 8, 2022

Painters, photographers, carvers and artists from a variety of mediums set up shop on the streets leading to and surrounding St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lewes July 2 for the oldest art show in the First Town in the First State.

While temperatures were high, so was the excitement from the crowd, leading to streets bustling with art enthusiasts looking for the perfect piece to complement their collection.

More than 100 vendors displayed their works on Second, Third, Mulberry and Market streets.

The annual event has been held since 1966, when members of the St. Catherine’s Guild at St. Peter’s invited artists to display their work on a clothesline strung across a wall in front of the church.

Next year’s event is planned for July 1, 2023.
