State powerlifting records fall at Winter Wrecker event

Nine Rehoboth Beach Barbell Club athletes compete in Virginia

Rehoboth Beach Barbell Club sent nine athletes to compete Nov. 6-7 at the 2021 USA Powerlifting Winter Wrecker event in Ashburn, Va.

Seven athletes placed in the top three of their respective divisions, and four lifters set a total of 17 new Delaware state records.

Julie Cullen set a Delaware state record with a 167.5 kg deadlift and took second place in the Open 84 kg division. Rachael Richardson earned third place in the Open 84 kg division in her first competition. Nicole Dimarzio brought home first place in the Masters 1B 84 kg division, which was also her first competition. Shelby Haughey finished fourth in the Masters 1A 69 kg division and set six new Delaware state records.

In his first meet, Adam Whitlock won the Masters 1A 120 kg division. Also his first time competing, Christopher Wagner earned first in the Masters 1A 83 kg division and established four Delaware state records. Jeffrey Wood took first in the Masters 1A 105 kg division. Jose Quinones won the Masters 2A 120+ division and set six Delaware state records. Jacob Latta-Morrissette placed ninth in the Open 105 kg division.
