Student environmentalists visit Rehoboth City Hall

Fifth-graders present posters on recycling, pollution prevention to town officials
June 16, 2021

Rehoboth Elementary fifth-graders enjoyed a beautiful walk downtown June 10, when they delivered posters designed to promote recycling and prevent pollution to city officials.

For the past four weeks, students have been learning about the earth system, said teacher Jacquie Kisiel.

“In connection to this unit, we have discussed our local water supply and how to prevent pollution,” Kisiel said. “One way to prevent pollution is through recycling!”

Students created awareness posters and presented them to Rehoboth Beach Mayor Stan Mills and Commissioner Richard Byrne.

Byrne, who chairs the city’s environmental committee, said the laminated posters will be placed on the pedestrian side of the barriers protecting outdoor dining areas so passersby can see them and will remain on the barriers as long as the weather allows.
