Sundance Disco Twilight Tea to return Sept. 1

July 29, 2019

Disco is most definitely not dead. The inaugural Sundance Disco Twilight Tea was such a success in 2018 that it will be a key part of Sundance 2019 – Rainbow XXXII: Ultraviolet Disco Day-Glo Sunrise and will likely become an annual feature of the annual two-night Labor Day weekend Sundance event.

The tea dance will be held from 7 to 10 p.m., Sunday, Sep. 1, followed by the traditional Sundance from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., giving attendees two dances for the same price.

“The inclusion of the tea dance was a huge plus for Sundance,” said Fay Jacobs, local writer and longtime Sundance fan. “Hundreds of folks got to dance early to their favorites or got a two-fer by coming early and staying late. Those of us who love classic disco can enjoy the over-the-top decor and professional lighting, dance to a legendary DJ and make it home long before we turn into pumpkins.”

The dances are held the second night of Sundance. The first night is the Sundance Auction from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, which includes a silent auction, live auction with auctioneer Lorne Crawford, and an all-night cocktail buffet and open bar. Up for bid will be a dazzling array of enticing items including art, trips, gifts, sports memorabilia and one-of-a-kind opportunities. Participants can attend either or both nights of Sundance. Tickets are $50 for one night, $90 for both.

The Sundance Disco Twilight Tea will feature DJ legend Robbie Leslie, best known for his work at Studio 54 and The Saint in NYC, as well as 12 West and Palladium. A legend in the music industry, Leslie’s 40 years of experience made him the prototype circuit party DJ. He is currently a Studio 54 radio DJ on Sirius XM radio, and continues to play parties all over the world.

Doors will open at 7 p.m., Sunday, for the Sundance Disco Twilight Tea, and at 10 p.m., internationally renowned DJ/Remixer Joe Gauthreaux will take over for the traditional Sundance. Gauthreaux has played almost every major circuit event in the world, including Winter Party Festival, Black Party, White Party Miami, Song Kran Bangkok, New Year’s Rio at The Week, and Atlantis Cruises, among others. A staple at major clubs across North America, Brazil and Asia, his name is synonymous with amazing and unique musical experiences.

CAMP Rehoboth is still accepting hosts and sponsors for Sundance. Those who donate at the sponsor level of $1,000 or above can enjoy a Sponsor Lounge with its own bar and bartenders along with extensive publicity exposure, tickets, T-shirts and other benefits.

Sundance 2019 – Rainbow XXXII: Ultraviolet Disco Day-Glo Sunrise raises funds that support the health of the local community, and the fair and equitable treatment of everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
