Support the Lewes Fire Department

March 15, 2024

Ray Quillen's plea to support the Lewes Fire Department in a March 12 letter is worthy of fundraisers for sure.

Being a firefighter is the most dangerous occupation, according to a recent report. Our firefighters perform an immense service, and I am grateful. Let's give the fire department a ladder truck and the two other vehicles they need.

Due to the rapid growth in Sussex County, I propose those entities that have made huge profits in the last few years – builders, real estate agencies, etc. – make sizable contributions yearly. I feel certain that such donations will probably be a tax write-off.

I plan to triple my donations now that I am aware of the shortfall.
