Surfers take advantage of big waves

August 28, 2011

While Hurricane Irene has come and gone, she did leave behind big swell for area surfers to take advantage of. About a dozen surfers paddled out into the ocean waters off Bethany Beach early Aug. 28 to try to catch the 5- to 8-foot waves, according to swellinfo.com.

"It's really good, man," said Billy Powell of Ocean View. "It's better than it has been for months."
