Susan Kaye Voorhees, kind, generous woman

February 11, 2026

Susan “Suzi” Kaye Voorhees, 73, of Rehoboth, formerly of Wilmington, and Marlton, N.J., passed away Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born and raised in Wilmington, Suzi grew up in a close-knit family surrounded by her parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins – memories she cherished throughout her life. She was the beloved daughter of Florence and Harold Green, and sister to Joe and Tom Green, all of whom preceded her in death. Suzi was also predeceased by her loving husband, Philip Voorhees, with whom she shared a deep and joyful partnership.

She is survived by her devoted son and care giver, Dale Goldstein; her sister, Vicki Green; her sister-in-law, Nancy Green; and numerous extended family members and friends who will miss her warmth, sparkle and generous spirit.

Suzi dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a dental hygienist, working alongside Dr. Fred Rosen in Marlton, N.J., for more than 25 years. After Philip’s passing, she moved to Rehoboth, where she became an active member of Midway Assembly of God in Lewes. She later shared her compassion as a volunteer hospice worker in Rehoboth for many years, offering comfort, kindness, and companionship to those in need.

Family traditions were sacred to Suzi. She never missed a Thanksgiving gathering, and her family’s New Year’s Eve parties were legendary – filled with laughter, endless food and joyful reunions. She also had a playful side and loved trips to Dover Downs, especially the slot machines, often accompanied by her cousin, Judith Apy.

One cherished memory from Suzi’s youth took place in the summer of 1964, when she attended a Beatles concert at the Convention Center in Philadelphia during the band’s U.S. tour. As Suzi and her siblings were thrilled with the songs, her father, Harold, humorously tuned into a Phillies baseball game on the radio – a snapshot of family life Suzi always recalled with a smile. A photograph of Suzi and her family at the concert later appeared in the Wilmington News Journal and remained a treasured keepsake.

Suzi’s life was defined by joy, generosity, and a deep love for her family and community. She will be remembered for her kind heart, quick wit, and the many ways she made others feel valued and loved.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Suzi’s memory to a hospice charity or to her church.
