Sussex Academy girls’ soccer blows out 7-1 Hodgson on blustery day

March 26, 2019

Sussex Academy’s Katherine Portilla and Emma Viers each scored a pair of goals to lead the Lady Seahawks past Hodgson Vo-Tech 7-1 March 22 at home.

Angeliki Rigakos, Delaney Smith and Zoe Probert added one score each.

Smith and Rigakos had three assists in the game.

“We moved the ball pretty well,” said head coach Casey Bahr. “Especially considering it was our first full game in very windy conditions. Our scoring came from a number of people, which is always good to see. We are expecting a much sterner test when we come up against [Sussex] Central on Tuesday. We are still a young team, and we can’t allow one game’s success delude us into thinking we are somehow better than we are.”

Sussex Academy faces the Golden Knights Tuesday, March 26, at Sussex Central.
