Sussex Academy girls’ lax looking to get back in win column

Seahawks drop one to red-hot Tower Hill
April 14, 2026

Buzzsaws are never fun to run into, especially one that is undefeated and outscoring its opponents to the tune of 61-11 over its first three games.

Unfortunately for the girls laxing it up for Sussex Academy, that’s exactly what they had to deal with in a 17-3 loss to Tower Hill April 11. The Hillers climbed to an 8-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Junior Charlotte Vanni led all scorers with seven goals, while her classmate Cece Clough had seven helpers. Sophomore Lucia Colosante added five goals to the effort.

Sussex Academy seemed to understand the quality of the opponent it was playing, as the Seahawks didn’t bicker when they conceded and they celebrated when they were able to score.

Junior Liz Layton and sophomore Brooklyn Montgomery were the first two players to score of Sussex Academy. Montgomery put her name in the stat book again when she raced down field, was checked, scooped up the ensuing ground ball and found Caroline Mitchell on the crease to give the sophomore an assist and the freshman a goal.

The Seahawks will have time to regroup before they head to Milford for a 4 p.m. start Friday, April 17.
