In advance of Delaware’s annual school choice application window, families are invited to explore opportunities in academics, the arts and athletics at Sussex Academy during two October open houses.
Sussex Academy is a tuition-free, public charter school in Georgetown that offers an accelerated academic program for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
The school choice enrollment application period for the 2026-27 school year for students in kindergarten through 11th grade will open Monday, Nov. 3, and close Wednesday, Jan. 14. Through school choice, parents or legal guardians living in Delaware may apply to enroll their children in any Delaware public traditional school district, charter or vocational-technical school, regardless of the student’s home address.
For families of students who will be entering kindergarten through fifth grade next year, an elementary open house is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22, at its campus at 22051 Wilson Road, Georgetown. For families of students entering sixth through 12th grades, the secondary open house will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, at its campus at 21150 Airport Road, Georgetown.
Applications submitted for anticipated openings at Sussex Academy are electronically recorded by third-party firm Data Service Center. If the number of applications exceeds available openings, a blind lottery will be held in January to select students who will be invited to enroll for the upcoming school year. Students are admitted in the order their application is drawn in the lottery.
