Sussex Academy students enjoy junior-senior prom
Students enjoyed the companionship of friends, a delicious meal and dancing to live music by The Royals at the Sussex Academy junior-senior prom, held May 3, at the Peninsula Golf & Country Club.
Students crowned Madison Jones prom queen and Jaxon Laux prom king. Their royal court included Melvin Harmon, Jenica Jean-Louis, Carson Gesuero, Emerson Layton, McKenna Danahy and Rilyn Lehman.
Class officers worked hard to raise funds for this year's prom, said senior advisor Caron Norton.
“They sold discount cards at school and various locations, and sold homemade cotton candy at Schellville,” Norton said. “I am very proud of their hard work and dedication to making this prom possible and memorable for all involved.”
The generous donations of several individuals and businesses toward the venue, decorations and music made the evening unforgettable. They included Jay Diaz, Greg Tobias, Steve Montgomery and Styled, and many families who contributed candies to the dessert bar.
The evening was an enjoyable success for everyone, said Head of School Kyle Bentley.
“We would like to thank our families, community members and the staff at the Peninsula for helping create this memorable experience for our students,” Bentley said. “This is a moment our students will never forget, and we could not be more grateful to everyone who made it possible.”
