Sussex Academy hosted back-to-school nights for families at its secondary and elementary campuses Sept. 29 and Oct. 1, respectively.
According to Head of School Kyle Bentley, the events were the best way for parents to get to know their children’s school, curriculum and teachers at the start of the year.
“The main purpose of Back-to-School Night is to establish a strong partnership between the home and the school, which is a key factor in a child’s success,” Bentley said in a release.
In a welcome message at the elementary event, Dean of Elementary Connie Hendricks asked families to be present and engaged with their child’s learning as best they can.
“School is super important, and your children need to know that you think it’s important, because when they come to school, they really mirror what they hear and see at home,” she said.
Both evenings began with an informational session held by administrators, after which families were directed to their children’s classrooms for sessions with individual teachers.
