Sussex Tech hosts Raven Academy for rising freshmen
Sussex Technical High School recently hosted Raven Academy, a three-day orientation program for incoming ninth-graders.
Designed to ease the 2025-26 freshman class into high school life, the program connected students with classmates, introduced them to the school’s career and technical education programs, and provided campus tours.
Students participated in social and academic activities, identified their strengths in English and math, and took career- and skills-related surveys to begin thinking about which CTE programs best suit their interests, goals and talents.
Participating students had the opportunity to meet school administrators and teachers, and upperclassmen who volunteered as peer mentors.
“Our main goal was to help our incoming freshman class build a sense of community before their first year of high school,” said John Baugher, principal. “Our hope is their participation in Raven Academy allows them to experience a smooth transition with new friends when returning for the new school year in August.”
Sussex Technical High School is a public school that prepares Sussex County students for their future success in workforce environments, higher education and military service.
