Kudzu harms the ecosystems that it invades because it smothers other plants and trees under a blanket of leaves, hogging all the sunlight and keeping other species in its shade.The Inland Bays Garden Center will present Tackling Invasives in Your Backyard, a mini program, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 23. Tickets are $10.
Lower Shore Land Trust’s Invasive Species Coordinator Victoria Spice will give homeowners an overview of invasive plants, listing the 10 biggest culprits and suggesting native replacements. The program will also cover best removal practices based on experience working in the local area.
Attendees receive 10 percent off the cost of all plants mentioned in the workshop.
