Taco Reho moving to new brick-and-mortar home

Food truck to be more available for road gigs
January 13, 2021

It rocks. It rolls. It’s moving up the highway.

Taco Reho announced the opening of its first brick-and-mortar restaurant in 2021.

The rock ‘n’ roll-celebrating food truck operation, with its award-winning tacos, is taking over the former Burger King space on Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach.

“We are excited to find a location on Coastal Highway in between Lewes and Rehoboth Beach, similar to our current location,” said chef/owner Billy Lucas. “The new location will allow us to expand our experience and food offerings to our growing fan base.”

Taco Reho’s new home will be a fast-casual style restaurant with a completely remodeled drive-thru, dining room and outdoor green room. The menu will include many of its old hits, as well as new singles, to keep the audience’s taste buds amped. Joining fan favorites like the Baja Fish and Chicken Tinga, along with the award-winning Danger Dog, will be new Green Bowls topped with all kinds of burrito and taco ingredients. Adult beverages, crispy taquitos, and sweet treats will also back up the band.

The new location will continue to offer fresh, house-made corn tortillas. “The foundation of a great taco is the tortilla. Without a great tortilla, we can’t put on the performance we want to with our tacos,” said Lucas.

A self-confessed taco head, Lucas said he is obsessed with the flavors and stylings of his menu. His culinary education partly stems from a decade of living and eating in San Francisco and Los Angeles. He learned the art of the burrito in the Mission District of San Francisco, where it reigns supreme. The taco-centric food truck culture of L.A. is what inspired him to come back to the East Coast and share what he had learned.

Taco Reho’s incarnation as a restaurant is now hitting every note as it builds on the hard work of Delaware’s favorite southern California-inspired, award-winning taco truck. “We are excited to have a building where we can create the full Taco Reho experience,” said Lucas.

The restaurant will be like a stage, owing its inspiration to Lucas’ many years on the road cooking for the world's biggest rock bands and their crews. It will offer a music-focused atmosphere dedicated to piquing the customers’ interest with its eclectic and ever-changing soundscapes. The indoor and outdoor seating areas will feel like a well-worn guitar that’s always in tune. Natural wood undertones accented with steel overlays will create a vibe like guests are on stage and ready to rock those tacos.

This move to a new home will also allow the food truck to head to more gigs. As a food truck, Taco Reho was limited to how many visits it could do away from its home base at Big Chill Surf Cantina. The new location will allow the food truck to be more available for parties, concerts, and company events.

Taco Reho is the latest expansion of the La Vida Hospitality Group that includes Big Chill Surf Cantina and Beach Club; Crooked Hammock in Lewes and Middletown, and in Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Fork + Flask in Rehoboth; and Crave Delivery Kitchen.
